Peeps is just over a year old! She joined the HOPE Program this month and she’s doing great! We are working on her basic obedience skills, as well as teaching her that a crate isn’t so bad after all. She loves other dogs, but does better with male dogs that are larger than her. She wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with cats or other small critters though.

People often comment on her short tail, but she had to have part of it amputated after she spent time in a kennel and she developed "happy tail" from wagging and hitting the sides of her kennel. Unfortunately, it wasn't healing after she moved to a foster home, so to prevent infection or her chewing on it, the decision was made to remove part of it. She's just as happy as can be though and she still wags her short little tail when she's happy, which is often.

I learned something new about Peeps this week. Thunderstorms & Peeps don’t mesh. The thunder was loud and she wanted nothing to do with the inside of her crate. The minute I crack the crate she jumped right in the bed with me shaking, curled up. All I could do was comfort her and keep assuring her that she is safe. I put some music on hoping that it will calm her. I look over after a while she is knocked out cold, me going against everything, I let her stay there of course, but the second time it stormed, I put the music on and filled her Kong, putting her in the crate. All good!!!

Peeps’ week was pretty quiet – you could pretty much tell she was missing Devin’s play run, run, run, but without question she got it in. Night time is always her time. She looks forward to it, everybody is in. She just gets the zoomies; it’s hilarious to watch. Then it’s peanut butter time, something she enjoys. I just love her interaction with the men and staff, especially after a day of chaos. The absolute JOY she brings is amazing.

Peeps had a beautiful week. Her and Devin got their chances of burning the run ways up before Devin’s departure. Peeps LOVES to be chased then flips it and wants to chase. She misses that with the little fellow. She still gets her full body workout with Wyatt. Peeps is just a ball of joy and so full of life. She absolutely loves the people for sure and loves entertaining. I give it to her – when it’s time to chill, she’s all pro. She just wants to lay next to you and cuddle. Her spoiled butt!

Peeps went out this week and she got her nails did, looking beautiful as ever. I guess it was some work for her because she came back exhausted, she gave me a look like... give me a couple hours. Once she rested it was all business, game on with Wyatt then with little Devin. She’s an animal with Wyatt but Devin she’s a sweetheart to. Peeps enjoys her playtime for sure, whether it’s with the dogs, playing tug with you or just that physical contact – she’s in love with it.

Peeps has started this new thing with me every morning now. When she wakes up she starts to tug at my blanket wanting me to get up with her. I tried to ignore her but she don’t let me, so me being me I give in. Pops the crate she just jumps on me wanting to play first thing in the morning. So for 10 min she’s active then frog legs it on the bed wanting to lay back down. Yeah I’m a sucker, I know she’s something... and a JOY to have.

Peeps has dealt with a couple situations outside our control that spooked her to the point of having the shakes. The one time I found myself in the crate with her comforting her, talking with her. After about a half hour she was calm and back to being Peeps wanting to wrestle with me. Peeps and Devin actually ran around, played with one another. Peeps is gentle with Devin – it's almost like she knows how so much stronger she is over him. Devin for sure takes advantage of her softness, and I'm sure he appreciates it too. Wyatt and Delaney cannot keep up with Peeps. Her energy level is unmatched. They both have the look on their faces like, "Help me please!" She's just a bundle of JOY and she demands to be loved.

Peeps' week was awesome. Her and Wyatt’s playtime is something for the ages. She doesn't let Wyatt up for air. She is a constant go-go-go. She finally ran and played with Delaney. The roles are reversed. When Delaney was doing to Devin, now Peeps is doing to Delaney. The way they played was almost like they grew up together. The beauty is watching Peeps, Devin, and Delaney in a yard together given Delaney just watches Devin and Peeps play. Peeps was all over Devin when he got his haircut. She thought he had on some Axe body wash, LOL. Peeps is really doing well and settling… she can be stubborn when she wants, but it's nothing compared to something.

Having Peeps now for a week has been nothing short of entertaining. It literally look her a half day to know that I was her dude. She still shows her nervousness walking through the doors or when she hears someone banging on something. She was an instant hit with Wyatt! She's running and playing with him to the ground like she has gas for days. When she gets her legs going everyone is in trouble! She loves meeting people, not the loud ones. She for sure loves that physical play with you and she listens. Peeps is all fun and the joy she brings to people already is absolutely amazing to see. Oh yea, did I mention she’s attached already?! LOL

Henry is just over a year and a half old, and had already found himself at the York SPCA! Then a wonderful couple came along and fell in love with Henry and took him home. Henry lived there with two parents and two cats where they worked really hard to make sure everyone could live peacefully together. Unfortunately, after a lot of work, training, praying, hoping, Henry ultimately decided that cats might make better snacks than friends. They made the heartbreaking decision to surrender Henry back to YSPCA, but with the help of HOPE, we're all hoping to continue Henry's journey to make him more confident and calmer around other animals. Currently though, it would be best if Henry could live in a home with no other pets, and with someone who understands that he might not ever want any furry best friends.

Henry does LOVE, and we mean LOVE, people...and treats! He's learning about toys, and basic obedience training, and all the other things that dogs learn in the Program. We are confident that we can help Henry and the YSPCA find his happily ever after.

Henry had a decent week. He was being pretty silly & excited most days. I had him out front chasing goose feathers, which was fun. I consider it a win if he acts like a puppy even if it is only for a few minutes. He is at his best when he lets his guard down; this is one of those moments I wish I could have a magic wand & POOF, he is all better… and right on time there he is licking my leg to get pet, LOL.

Henry has been having some stomach issues still that we’re caring for. Despite his circumstances he is such a happy boy. He has so much love in his heart & we have nothing but love for this silly boy. He is becoming a bit more interested in dog toys. His play will now last for a few minutes before he is back on guard. I keep insisting to him that he will be OK & that he is loved. I think he feels it.

Henry has still been having tummy issues this week, so we have cut back on his training with the other dogs so he doesn’t get over excited. He has not regressed which is good. He is doing more of an excited “look at me” bark most of the time. I hope to get his condition figured out soon so we may resume his training. He was doing so well. I am very proud of how far he has come. We will just keep showing him TONS of love.

Thank goodness for Henry’s vet visit. He is back to his old goofy self. He was still pretty tired for a few days after returning. He has been on guard a bit more also. I am working on breaking his concentration when he is fixated on a door or a gate. Case in point, he is standing directly behind me staring at the door while I am writing this journal. He takes being a guardian to a different level & he got his Level 1 obedience!

Poor Henry has had quite the week. Henry got awfully sick Sunday into Monday so he had to go on an over night trip to the vet’s office. He was not really eating or drinking because he couldn’t keep anything down. He was obviously dehydrated & needed nutrients. It looks like they gave him an I.V. & he is back & doing great. He has some special food to eat & needs some rest but I’m SO happy he is all right!

The new part of Henry's training with other dogs is letting him roam in the front part of the dog yard while letting the leash drag behind him. This gives him more choices and also lets him know that he doesn't have to guard me. He is doing really well with Wyatt and Delaney on the other side. All I have to do if he gets excited is tell him "timeout" and simply walk him off of the fence. I am so happy to see him making HUGE progress!

This morning during training, Henry was able to work his way over to the picnic table with Delaney in the adjacent yard, taking a nap on the fence. He even took it a step further when he climbed up on the table and laid down. At the time there was also heavy equipment operating next to the yard and he didn't mind. I think Henry is making positive strides!

Henry is doing much better now with his new medication. He seems a lot more relaxed around the other dogs when he is in the yard with them. He is still on leash, but he is laying in the grass and enjoying belly rubs in the sun instead of assessing the threat level. He also saw a dragonfly for what I am guessing was the first time. He looked up at me like, "that thing just blew my mind…” Could be the meds.

Henry has been way more attached to my hip this week. We have our good days & bad with his anxiety. It seems like loud noises set him off more than anything. We use his stuffed pink warthog to comfort him & I rub his chest & say "shhh" to try to sooth him. He is having less of a reaction to the other dogs which is great. Keep your fingers crossed for this big teddy bear!

Henry is doing much better seeing the other dogs in the dayroom and way better on leash out in the dog yard. He is still losing his mind when he sees the same dogs out front. Our days are almost like the movie 50 First Dates. Poor guy has so much trauma that I think he forgets his name. He is learning to play with toys more and chew on bones. He now has a pink wild boar that he chews on. He is a HAPPY dog despite everything. We'll get him where he needs to be!

Poor Hank got stung by two separate bees on the same day, on the same paw! The first sting he took in stride and didn't let it get to him, but the second time was a different story. I don't know if the area was sensitive from the first sting, but I will assume so. You would have thought that he got hit by a car. He yelped, fell, and limped. So I babied him for the rest of the night while he kept holding his paw up to my face with a sad look. What a ham!

Henry is making more progress with not reacting to the other dogs. He most certainly has his moments when he sees the other dogs, but his reactions are far less severe. Two weeks ago, he was losing his mind and now there is less of a wrestling match. He is more willing to retreat with me and cool off. One thing I do is hold him firm between my shins and rub his neck scruff, which really seems to calm him. We are getting there. I can say he is WAY more comfortable!

Henry "Hank the Tank" is making great progress with his pattern games and his reactive training. He is becoming more tolerant of Wyatt, Delaney, and Devin. We have been focusing on training out in front of the dog yard while they are playing in the back. I have been able to have Hank give me his belly just outside the fence, so he is slowly letting his guard down. We are also learning how to play with toys.

Henry aka "Hank the Tank" is a welcome addition to our dog crew. Although Hank is a very sweet and loving boy, we have a lot of work to do around other dogs. It is our belief that Hank may have been forced into situations with other dogs that were not ideal and not what this sweet boy is about. He LOVES people, hot dogs, and cuddles. He has become attached to my hip and I think with our hard work mixed with love, we will change his outlook.

Devin is a 1 year old mini bernadoodle who found his way to Rowquin after his owner could no longer care for him. He was in rough shape at first, but he cleans up pretty good! Now that he's looking better, and feeling better, we are HOPE-ing that we can help Devin learn some confidence and obedience skills so that he can find his happily ever after!

Devin is getting so much better with his commands whenever he can stay focused. Only thing on his mind is play. We had Devin & Delaney running the whole yard back and forth while we yelled “cookie...treats” and they chased the treats! I was shocked to see Delaney outlast Devin but then again maybe not. It was a win-win for both of us because it got them tired and they got treats!

Ugly weather doesn’t stop Devin from having fun. He loves running in the mud just as if it was sunny outside. He likes when I chase him even though I know I don’t stand a chance at catching him. Peeps and Devin run after each other ALL day. Peeps might be the only one that Devin quite can’t escape from!

He tries to put up a fight. Now that he is sporting a new haircut, he is getting a lot of attention. I must say Devin cleans up nice. He enjoys the sunshine now with all that hair gone!

Devin has become a lot more confident when meeting new people. There are times when he's hesitant, but for the most part he’s become more playful with people. Devin LOVES to be chased, and it's comical to watch. I swear to you him being on an episode of the Puppy Bowl will be epic to watch! There’s not a dull moment, but I have to hand it to him, he does have a chill button. I’m surprised to see how comfortable and attached he’s getting to one of our newest members. It's funny to see it. It’s like watching over your kids in a playground. Overall, Devin is good. He just wants to play, whether it’s him being chased, playing with you, or playing with a dog...Did I mention he LOVES the affection?!

For the past couple weeks, I've been working with Devin with going in the crate. He was running from me, even hiding under the bed. Every time I went out he knew it was crate time and he hauled ass right under the bed, LOL Funny to the core! The other day Devin, on his own, kept going in the crate! I thought it was a one-time thing, but he shocked me because the last few days it's become constant. That was a big deal for me, especially for him to be comfortable enough to relax. I had to reward with something big, showing him just how proud I was. Little peanut head looks for me now when I’m not around! It’s for sure comforting knowing that I’ve become something to him.

For the first time, Devin actually looked for me when I wasn't around. He’s definitely trusting me more and more, which I think is huge. He hasn't missed a beat since his previous handler – all he does is PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! Actually his confidence has risen, although there are times when something spooks him and he'll just come to me and lay next to me. I have this thing with him … He’s Devin in house but “Viper” when he’s in public. It's actually funny when everyone hears it. I didn’t think he had a chill bone in his body but once I lay down he’ll come right next to me and just chill. Don’t get it twisted – the minute I move he thinks it’s game time or we’re on the move going somewhere. Exposure is something Devin is getting and one thing for sure – his confidence is showing.

Devin is really settling in now and he's trusting more. All he wants to do is play and lay next to me. He is really adjusting to being in the crate. He was cursing at me at first, but he's come to terms that I wasn’t breaking and just gave in, LOL. He’s for sure getting used to dealing with more people daily, especially at night when I let him roam around on his own – comfortable is how I describe it. He still barks at the unknown but it’s all play with him. I trip off him because he’ll actually watch the planes fly overhead with me. I mean we’re both laying on the table, watching planes go by, then he gives me a look like, “What’s next?” Devin for sure is a little ball of fire...

I now had Devin for a week and he’s adjusting well. The first couple days it was definitely a challenge for me. Devin was used to being around who he was around daily, so his trust with me was something I had to earn. I can see that I still have work to do, but I’m ALL IN with the little guy. He’s funny, all he wants to do is lay in the bed with me and roll around. He gets mad at me when he can’t do the overnight and he has to get his little but in the crate. He’s not missing a beat. His playtime with Laney is a MUST. The only thing that has changed with Devin is his crate time – something he is starting to get used to it.

Devin is an energetic dog, but he has one kryptonite that I exploit on a daily basis. He can’t resist fetching a ball. He loves to run and return the ball. Doesn’t matter how tired he is, he will chase after a ball and bring it back to me. Doesn’t matter what type of ball – tennis, racquet, “chuck-it”, yarn, Kong, baseball – as long as he can chomp on it, he can’t resist going after it. Thank goodness, because taking long walks isn’t my forte, LOL.

Devin’s favorite toy has been a soccer ball specifically for dogs. Another dog chewed a fifty-cent-size hole on one side and, on the exact opposite side, chewed a bigger hole. Devin’s head barely fits in this hole, and he manages to get his head stuck inside the ball. This is comical by itself, but Devin doesn’t care because he’s sticking his entire tongue through the smaller hole. So, for minutes at a time, Devin is walking around with a ball on his head while he is sticking his tongue through a small hole. As long as Devin is happy, so am I!

Devin was at a HOPE fundraiser last Friday. Before he went, he went to the groomer and now has a 3 inch mohawk from head to tail! Usually he runs a bit warm with all his hair in this stretch of hot weather. Now with short hair and the cooler weather he gets gold a lot faster. I know when he’s cold because ever since his hair cut he’ll jump on my lap and curl up like an Eskimo dog and will stuff his nose under my hand. He’s only 30 lbs. When he curls in a little ball, he’s in his own world.

Devin loves CoCo. No, not the beverage, but the other dog named CoCo. Devin is usually submissive with other dogs, but he likes to boss around Coco, especially since he can’t outrun or maneuver around CoCo. CoCo likes to corral Devin (like he’s a sheep), but Devin will put his big boy pants on and starts bossing CoCo around by nipping playfully at CoCo. One time Devin pulled some hair from CoCo and it stuck to his lower lip. Devin didn’t know it was there but he looked so hilarious because he looked like had a blond colored goatee!

Devin has a nickname now. Buggie. There’s an individual who doesn’t speak English very well and tries to call Devin “buddy.” Instead, it sounds like “buggie.” So now he answers to both! Devin also found a new abundance of edible greens. He’s always eating grass but his new favorite are dandelions. He goes NUTS over these and has eradicated all of the dandelions in the dog yard. Even if he doesn’t eat them he’ll pluck ‘em with his mouth and spit them out and look at me with a big smile.

Devin continues to show his personality. He is fun-loving, with a balance of a little crazy (in a comical way). It seems to be all go or all slow for him. When he plays it’s all out, especially when it’s with his bestie Delaney. Devin was waiting for Delaney to come into the dog yard. When she was unleashed it was GAME ON. Delaney started chasing Devin and he goes full speed into the next dog yard. Problem was the gate was closed, and I thought I was going to have a crumpled up dog on the ground. Instead, Devin jumps on the fence, runs on the side of the gated fence for a good 4-6 feet and takes off! Not sure how he didn’t get some of his small paws stuck in the fence, but all was good…play on!

Devin passed his Level 1 Obedience test w/ flying colors!!! I’m more proud of him listening to me saying, “Out” so he doesn’t eat objects he shouldn’t be eating. I’m most proud of Devin and his ability to play with all the dogs. Devin’s favorite is still Delaney. They will sleep together, walk on leash together, annoy each other, destroy toys together, and yes – even pee and poop at the same time! I think it’s safe to say the two of them are officially in a relationship!

Devin’s fourth week! We did not do our Obedience Level 1 test last week, but we will be doing it this week. Devin will be losing his bestest bud named Dexter this week because he has found his forever home. I will miss the laughter when the two are playing in the yard together. Devin has more agility but Dexter has more speed. When the two are playing together and Dexter is chasing Devin, he will stop much faster and juke Dexter out. Sometimes this leads to Dexter just running over Devin and being a collision and Dexter will just sit on Devin’s head so he can’t get the toy. Other times Devin will play keep away with the toy by going in tight circles. Dexter is frustrated, so he’ll just end up biting on Devin’s Mohawk. Yes, Devin has a Mohawk and it gives him no street cred with any of the other dogs here but it is cute and Dexter likes it to gain an advantage during play!

Devin’s third week went really well. He’s starting to learn his basic obedience: sit, down, up, stay, and recall, to name a few. He will be taking his Obedience Level 1 test this week. Fingers crossed, but he will be ready. To be honest, I wasn’t sure Devin was going to be able to accomplish a lot of his training because his first day was concerning. The only thing he knew was sit, but the real concern came when we would go to the dog yard and I would open the gate. Usually, the dog will go right in and start playing. Devin, on the other hand, would stand 2–3 feet to the side and stare at the fence, waiting for the “imaginary gate” in front of him to open. Repeatedly, the first day this kept on occurring. We’ve gotten past that, and now the real training has begun. Find out next week if he passes his obedience test!

Devin’s second week has been great. He made another friend with a dog named Ruby and continues to play with Dexter and Delaney. However, his biggest fad right now is people who are walking by with their hat or beanie in their hand. These people don’t realize Devin is plotting and will sneak attack them and grab their hats from their hand and then plays keep away from them. In one day, he probably stole half a dozen hats from unassuming victims. The funniest is when he plays keep away, he will throw the hat in the air and catch it like he’s taunting for the fun of it and just to rub it in. For Devin, it’s just another toy, but we are teaching him he can grab the hats, but he must give them back.

Devin’s first week has been awesome! After a few tentative days, Devin broke out of his shell and started playing with toys and with other dogs. He loves to play with Dexter, who outweighs him by 50+ pounds, and Delaney, who is about the same height but weighs 25 pounds heavier. Devin loves to walk under Delaney and tries to pick her up on his back while he’s trying to bite her back leg. The funniest is when Devin is trying to catch up with Dexter, and Devin starts yipping like a squeaker. So funny it made me cry with laughter. Devin is quickly becoming my favorite dog so far. Can’t help but smile every time I think of him.

CoCo is an 8 year old Australian Shepherd, but don't let the age fool you, he's still smart as a whip, energetic as ever, but also appreciates a cozy place to take a nap! CoCo ended up with CPAA after some very kind people found him in not such great circumstances and offered to take him into their home. While there they nursed him back to health, watched his beautiful coat become long and shiny again, and got him a clean bill of health! We did learn that CoCo would do best in a home without cats, and that he can be selective with his dog friends too. We're working on teaching him how to be less reactive to dogs, but he may do better in a home where he can be the only pet. Thankfully though, we know he does well with kids, men and women, so no limitations there. We love helping dogs like CoCo really thrive and learn how to be the best dog he can be!

I couldn’t be more happier for CoCo. He loves life and he loves affection. He is beautiful on every level. Thank you for giving CoCo a chance of a lifetime, a “second chance” of a forever home. The absolute JOY he will bring in your every day lives will be priceless. CoCo will AW moment you a lot and I have to say he is very alert with your emotions. CoCo loves playing with other dogs (smaller for sure), so dog parks are in his future. Before I close, you’re adopting something special. Thank you again for having heart.

My boy is really thriving at his age, I was tasked with putting a gentle leader on CoCo. It was funny because he did not like me putting that on him! The faces he was making – priceless. But I had a whole week to work with him on it before his next home visit. I was thrilled to hear that CoCo did exceptionally well walking with his person. Overall, I couldn’t be more proud of him. The way he responds to people is NEXT LEVEL – he loves affection, especially hugs! He loves to be groomed – the boy is spoiled, no doubt. He did get sick a couple days ago. He eats broccoli, but too much of it wasn’t good! I felt sorry for my boy, his look was “help me please!” He’s all good now. Pray for his forever home!

CoCo’s week was beautiful. He had a home visit, which went extremely well. Although he is a much older dog, I couldn’t be more proud of him in such a short time. CoCo is still growing and learning as the days go by. I just can’t wait until his permanent home to be just that, home. Keep your prayers in the air for CoCo and a forever home.

Every week CoCo is thriving on all levels, even his reactions toward other dogs. CoCo just gets overly excited when he meets newer dogs, but once he’s around them and knows they’re not a threat to him, he’s good. I’m really surprised that he doesn’t react to Wyatt, which was a deal for him to get over. CoCo loves people and he loves his attention. He loves hugs from people. Then there’s Devin, whom he loves to play with all the time. CoCo loves to be outside whether it’s play or just chilling and just loves the company of people. Staff here LOVES him!

CoCo’s growth is something amazing to be a part of. Watching how he just plays with Devin, then in a blink of an eye he switches to his grown man when Delaney comes around. Now he is not reacting to Wyatt, but when Wyatt starts to play around it’s almost like CoCo gets jealous and wants to join in with Wyatt. CoCo is becoming the people’s champ. The smile and the energy he brings to people is priceless. CoCo is thriving in every good way, though I have to wrestle with him when it’s time for a bath – he thinks it’s a game, which is funny!

I didn’t know CoCo had the awareness of protection. One of the youngins was playing with me and he grabbed me – CoCo saw that, ran from the other end of the yard and jumped straight on me getting between me and the youngin, standing there barking until the youngin moved away from me. CoCo loves to play chase, whether it’s with Devin or one of the guys. I just didn’t know that he was quick and very agile, very deceptive. He is fun to be around, that’s for sure!

OFF LEASH CoCo played and ran around with Devin and Delaney. CoCo thinks Devin is asleep – watching them is hilarious! It’s like looking at an episode of Yellow Stone, it’s crazy to see. Devin tries to get away but he can’t shake CoCo. He realizes that he’s quicker than he thought, so Devin will stop to wrestle a little then tries to hall ass LOL. When Delaney comes around CoCo turns into Fabio – he play bows and he’s just more gentle with her.

CoCo is ascending, he now plays with Delaney OFF leash, even Devin, although I think CoCo is too much for little Devin. Overall it was a good thing to see that CoCo can get along with other dogs. It takes a little time for CoCo to understand that the other dog is not a threat. His training is going well, he listens very well and he almost looks to you all the time for approval. He watches over me as I sleep, which I found interesting. I learned that’s the breed, that’s my old head.

CoCo is a beautiful dog. His personality and character could not be more spot on. It literally took him a day to trust me; now he looks to me and over me. CoCo trusts me enough to know that I won’t allow anything to happen to him. We now introduce ourselves to the other dogs. The way he reacts to them is unbelievable. Devin, Delaney, now Dexter he doesn’t respond to. He actually can be around them without reacting. What I did learn, CoCo loves hugs and loves being loved. CoCo LOVES EVERYBODY and is very chill and has manners.

Delaney is what we call a Pocket Pittie, she's full grown at 1 year old and weighs in at 32lbs! She's full of life and love, and even though she had a very rough start to her life wandering the streets of Philadelphia with a lot of injuries, she's just the happiest little pittie you'll ever meet. We can't wait to see all the things she's going to learn!

Delaney absolutely LOVES playing with Shadow. No matter what the weather she is always game to play in the mud. She actually looks for him whenever she is in the yard and he isn’t. She gets a little bit too excited at times and I just have to tell her to take a break and she does just that until she catches her breath... and then it’s right back to playing!

Delaney is still doing well while waiting for her person and forever home even though she thinks I am. The other day she really made me crack up when we walked outside and she sat down on the rough concrete and began dragging her butt and the concrete bit into her. She jumped straight in the air and spun around to look at the ground like something bit her and she wanted to kill it, then looked at me and began wagging her tail like she knew what she did, LOL.

Delaney is still doing very well, she has been a lot more active since it’s not quite as hot outside. She is starting to play more and more with Shadow. In the beginning she would just boss him around but she realized now that she is faster than him and she loves to be chased. She was running laps in the yard while he was trying to catch her and when he tried to cut her off she would try to jump over him at full speed but not quite clear him but would land on her stomach and keep right on going, LOL. It’s great to see her playing again!

Delaney is still doing very well in here, I honestly can’t believe that she is still here with me. She is such a cute and sweetheart of a dog that loves attention from her person. If I leave the cell even for 5 minutes and then come back she gets so excited you would think I was gone all day. I lay down on my bed and she crawls up onto my chest with her tail going crazy and gives me kisses and tries to preen my neck, which doesn’t feel good but it’s ALL LOVE. She would sleep on top of me if I let her, LOL. There is no doubt that she will make someone the best companion ever.

Delaney is still doing very well. It seems like the more she is around Peeps the more she wants to play again. Although, she isn’t sure exactly how to play with Shadow. She yells at him a lot and then she rolls over on her back and because she yells so much Shadow isn’t sure what to do so he rolls on his back also and they kind of just slap each other while lying there, it’s really cute. As far as Peeps and her playing Peeps is pretty rough but Delaney LOVES it. She is an amazing character though and continues to make us all laugh just with her facial expressions.

Delaney is doing very well still. She has been a lot more active because the weather is more suiting for her. She enjoys playing with Peeps even though Peeps manhandles her, but I think it reminds her of her sister. She also plays with Devin as long as they are on leash because Devin can't run away. Off leash he is too fast for her, so she just gives up. She still loves to lay out in the sun, and she could lay there all day and barely move. She has no cares about anything when the sun is up, but when it goes down she comes alive. She's my little vampire. I think she knows that she is a little princess by the way she acts. She is an AMAZING companion that will show her person a lot of affection.

So Delaney is doing very well. She has found a new playmate in the new dog, Peeps. At first she wasn't sure how to go about playing with her, but as of two nights ago it just happened and Peeps ran her into the ground. I could tell how out of shape she is because she was dead exhausted after about ten minutes of play. It was good to see her play like that again, which I haven't really seen since her sister left. Although when the sun is out she will only lay there sunning herself all day, she will not play, but as soon as the sun sets, it's game ON. She is an amazing companion that will snuggle with you all day long.

Delaney is still doing well. She loves being treated like the princess she is. If she wants something, she will give me a look that is absolutely heartbreaking. She knows how to give me the saddest look I've ever seen on a dog. And most of the time I break, but I try not to give in. All her different facial expressions could be a meme, LOL. Even when she sleeps, she is absolutely adorable. If anyone spent even two or three days with her, she would melt their hearts, and there is no doubt that she can be a cherished member of anyone's family.

Delaney is still doing very well. On hot days she is still very lazy and on cool days she is very energetic. I also noticed that every time I give her a bath she gets very rowdy and loves to play around and she gets the zoomies. It's funny though when she is still wet she likes to roll around on her back whether we are inside or outside. She still loves to tackle Devin whenever she can catch him, mainly when he is on leash because off the leash he is way faster than her so she just gives up. They really are great together!

Delaney is still doing well. She pretty much shuts down in this heat to the point where she lays down with the bowl of water between her front legs so she doesn't have to get up and walk to get water. She is one of the laziest dogs I've ever met almost to the point it concerns me. Now if you put food or treats in front of her she comes alive. I no longer let anyone else feed her so she isn't just going to them for food, but now she will just ignore everyone. She is SO spoiled. Then she has the saddest look on her face that makes my heart melt and it's hard to not give into her.

Delaney is still being Delaney. No matter how long she is here, she still makes us laugh. I wrote previously about how she loves to lay around and switches from the sun to the shade all afternoon. Well, she went to lay in the sun on top of the table behind another handler and myself and when she went to sprawl out she was too close to the edge and she rolled off the top onto her back on the bench and landed on her feet on the ground in shock, and then looked at us like we pushed her, LOL. It had to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen, but it woke her up fully, that’s for sure! She is awesome.

So Delaney is still doing very well. She is still lazy most of the day. Once in a while she decides she wants to run around or play. The funniest thing this week was when an inmate was down in between the blocks where there is never anyone, or she has never seen anyone down there. Well, she lost her mind barking and growling at this guy until he came up and sat down in the grass and I reassured her he was alright. Then she was fine again. The thing is that when she growls or barks, it's not intimidating at all – it just makes her even more adorable. She is awesome!

So Delaney over the past few weeks has become extremely lazy to the point she lays down inside, she lays down outside, all she does is lay around like she is 100 years old. So I had to hold a treat in my hand so she smells it, and I began running laps in the yard just so she would get some kind of exercise. She was so exhausted by the time I was done. She came inside and laid on the cold floor to cool off, and then she got in bed and was snoring in a couple minutes, LOL. I think she hated me for doing that to her, but she is still amazing!

Delaney is still doing very well. She still makes me laugh almost every day with her personality. She is so routine-oriented that if something is out of place, or she doesn't think it should be there, she will let it be known. Like a gardener in between the blocks or the maintenance people going on the roof. Her little hackles go straight up and she starts growling and barking. She is just unsure of what is happening, and her little bark isn't threatening at all. If anything, the whole action makes her adorable. She thinks she is such a badass, but she's just CUTE!

Delaney is still doing very well. She isn't as active as she used to be, but she still gets the ZOOMIES here and there. The other night I was leaving the yard at 8:30 and she took off toward the front door, so once inside, I let her off leash and she went sprinting and sliding throughout the dayroom, with Devin trying to keep up with her. She hadn't run like that in a while, so she was really tired afterwards and while I was wiping her down, she just rolled over on the floor. She continues to make us all laugh!

Delaney is still doing amazing here. She continuously makes me laugh with all her little quirks, like when she is sleeping upside down next to me with her tongue hanging out or making barking sounds because she is dreaming. Or like when I come back from somewhere and she is excited, she does this yawn into a bark and then goes and attacks her bone to take out her excitement on. She just loves to get affection right away, and then once she settles down she doesn’t care about anything except TREATS.

Another awesome week with Delaney. She does really well with Devin in the yard or on the leash. He is so much faster than her, so she tries to figure out his moves but miscalculates so many times when chasing him. If she gets too close to him, he just throws whatever toy he has at her so she quits chasing him. When she catches him, she just mows over him and he loves it. With Wyatt, it’s the royal rumble every time and that’s what she LOVES. When they get done playing, they are both exhausted and she snores extra loud that night. She is an amazing character!

Delaney continues to do very well and she still makes me laugh pretty much every day. She is the most affectionate dog I’ve ever been around. When we are in the cell, she insists on being right next to me, whether she is sleeping upside down with her tongue hanging out or just laying there. We were in a lockdown all day Wednesday and all she did was sleep until six pm. She sat up and just looked at me like she was saying, “What are we still doing in here?” All I could do was laugh, and when I did her tail began wagging and she jumped on top of me, giving me kisses all over and then turned back around and went back to sleep.

She just absolutely plows through him and throws him all over the place, but he just continues to come back for more. She is very protective over him with certain other dogs and then she’ll turn around and go after him. Devin loves the attention from his little girlfriend, LOL.

We were out in the front yard where Delaney was laying in the grass and the bugs began flying around her face, so we were all laughing at her trying to catch these tiny bugs in her mouth – it’s the cutest thing ever. Then she’ll roll over back and forth on her back and scratch her face with her paws like a baby, so adorable. If I tease her in the cell she does the same thing and tries to hide her face. So another awesome week with Delaney. She is still just a lazy dog in the heat. Yesterday at 1:00 I woke her up to go outside to use the potty before I go on my pass, so she was still half asleep when we walked up to the fence where there was construction going on. There was a guy in a trench just standing there so we could only see half of him, a green t-shirt and a hat. She was fine until he turned and looked at her. Her hackles went up, and she began growling and barking because she didn’t know what she was looking at. So I walked her out of sight of the whole scene, but she continued her cute little growl and bark until we came back inside. She is even cuter when she growls or barks, LOL.

Delaney is still doing well and is as cute as ever. I got her a new toy, it’s like a rubber chicken but it’s a rubber piggy. When I come back into the cell, she always gets excited. Now she runs to one end of the cell and pushes on the piggy to make it squeal, then runs to the other end and goes back and forth. In such a tiny area, I’m scared she’ll hurt herself, but she never does. She is also letting out this yawn-yelp from excitement that is hilarious and so cute. She is amazing!

Delaney continues to do very well here. She gives all of us plenty of laughs. Her personality is priceless. All these 70 degree days, all she wants to do is lay in the grass, and every now and then she rolls around on her back and wiggles down the hill. Everything she does is absolutely adorable. Even when she first sees a person, when she realizes they have nothing she wants, she turns her back and goes to the far end of the leash, almost saying, “You have nothing for me; I have nothing for you.” It cracks me up every time how standoffish she can be.

Another amazing week with Delaney. She has come so far since she first arrived into my care. She has absolutely captured my heart with her cute, cuddly, and sometimes rowdy and sassy personality. The face she makes when I eat something that she doesn’t care for, which isn’t much, or don’t share with her is absolutely heartbreaking, and then she lowers her head and hugs a big SIGH to the point her lips flutter. And at that point if someone can resist giving her something to eat, I don’t think they have a heart, LOL. She thinks everyone and every dog is on her time, she thinks she is the boss. In the afternoons if the sun is out all she wants to do is lay out like a lazy teenage girl. She lays in the sun until it’s too warm and then moves to the shade. She goes back and forth until we come inside – it’s fun to watch!

So Delaney is still improving from week to week in playing with other dogs and toys. She will play for a long time with Dexter and a rope and also plays nice with Devin and a toy. It’s really cute watching her chase Devin around the yard. They are both really fast. She tries to cut Devin off by going underneath the picnic table. It’s really funny to watch. If she is being boring, Dexter and Devin will parade around her with the toy or rope until she chases after them, and then it’s game on. I still think she just enjoys being a lazy dog now, which is fine as well. She is so cute and loves to cuddle.

Another fun week with Delaney. She is enjoying her play time with the new dog, Devin. I think it’s amazing how she will adjust the level of intensity that she plays at with each dog. She still loves Dexter the most. I think the reason for that is because he acts a lot like her sister used to be, with the relentless energy antagonizing her. Devin also antagonizes her, but when Delaney gets vocal, he backs off, not knowing that it’s still all play. I also think it’s funny how standoffish she is when you don’t have a treat for her. A lot of the time she goes to the end of the leash and just sits down away from everyone. And also she can give you the perfect ASPCA commercial sad look. It’s heart melting.

So Delaney is still doing amazing. I believe she is slowly getting better when I leave her alone in the cell while I’m on a pass. Although when I come back, she is so excited that if she could, she would tackle me. So now at night when I come back, I hook two or three leashes together and we go in the front yard for her to run out her excitement. She just runs in huge circles so fast that she is kicking up grass doing so.

Well another awesome week with Delaney, the temperature has risen outside so she is coming alive again. She enjoys running in the grass and mud. Our dog yard is all mud but her and Dexter do not care, they play and play, rolling in the mud and all. Everytime Dexter and Delaney come face to face outside Delaney gets the zoomies. She is hilarious. Delaney got the zoomies between Ruby and Dexter and Ruby's handler didn't expect her to get them also and Ruby took off causing her handler to slip in the mud and fall, it was awesome. Her personality is so cute and funny, even when she gets mad she gets cuter yet.

Another amazing week with Sweet Delaney. She has really grown into her own personality with her sister gone. I think she could sleep all day in the cell if I was in there with her. She still likes to play with the other dogs especially Dexter. She likes to be chased, if Dexter catches her then she is done. Last night we let Dexter and Delaney run in the Dayroom for the first time together and man did they run. Dexter couldn't catch her on the slippery floor so Delaney just kept running laps until she was completely worn out. She laid on the floor while I wiped her down and then sprawled out on the bed until the morning. She woke up to eat her food and now she is sleeping again.

Another amazing week with Delaney. We got a big snow storm and she hates it. I took her in the yard in about 4 inches of snow and she looked like she was broken. So after the storm I shoveled a path around the perimeter of the yard and she wouldn't stray from it, she just ran laps for about 10 minutes and then her paws got cold. She also finally warmed up to the new dog Dexter so now she plays with him for longer periods of time than any of the other dogs. I don't know if she relates him to her sister or not but the play is more like she played with her sister. Dexter lets her be more dominant and they both love to play until we stop them because they get to crazy and sweaty.

Since her sister left, Delaney is learning she can be a "lazy dog" in the cell, often just laying down to sleep. However, she still has high energy in the dayroom. She hates the cold and doesn't care to play outside. She is still adjusting to the new dog, Dexter; she will play if he submits, but snaps at him if he gets too playful. Despite this, she is doing amazing and loves to snuggle.

Since her sister left, Delaney has had high energy because they used to play so hard together. To help, her handler focused on mental stimulation; in just one day, she learned how to back up, bow, and spin. The handler also kept her active during the day to prevent sleeping, which tired her out so much it took two days to recuperate. She is now back to her energetic self, and more training is planned.

So another amazing week with Delaney—she is extremely smart. We went for a walk to R-block and building #15 with the counselor and unit manager, so now she believes that whenever the women show up, we are going for a walk and she can go explore. I was in the yard with her playing around and I guess she was done because I had the leash hanging on the fence next to the gate, so she ran over and grabbed the end and looked at me. Her expressions are priceless. She has a really funny and cute personality.

So I was walking Delaney outside next to the flower beds when a vole took off and Delaney lost her mind. Now every time we go out to that spot, she has to check to make sure there is nothing there. Another day I was lying in my bed and she jumped up on me and then realized for the first time that there is a window there, so then every time someone walked by she would do a low growl/bark. It had me laughing so hard which would make her look at me all weird, which made me laugh even harder. She is nonstop entertainment.

When it's cold outside, Delaney plays for a little bit but doesn't last long before she wants to come inside. She runs to the gate, sits down and looks at me, then she runs to me and then right back to the gate. I got permission to let her run inside once everyone is locked in and she runs like a wild child, doing big laps around the dayroom for about ten minutes with her sister chasing her, and then she is done for the night. She gets so worn out from this that she sleeps on the floor where it's cool for about an hour before she gets in the bed. She is adapting very well.

My second week with Delaney was amazing. She is beginning to come out of her shell a little more. She loves to snuggle but also knows when it's time to go to her own bed, though she does it with a cute sad face that makes it hard to say no to anything. She is extremely smart and learns very fast, even though she likes to be stubborn at times. She is playing very well with Charlie and the rope; they play tug a lot in the yard and run back and forth while both holding the rope. She is making good progress with the resource guarding.

Delaney’s first week in the program was described as amazing, and she already has her handler wrapped around her paw. She is noted as the sweetest dog the handler has ever been around and has the endearing habit of sleeping upside down and snoring loudly. During this week, she successfully learned how to "down" and give "paw" on both sides. She is highly food-motivated, described as a "bottomless pit," and her handler is currently working on slowing her down while she eats to prevent her from choking. Delaney is very submissive, gets along well with other dogs, and loves to play, though she tends to get bored of playing tug-of-war rather quickly.

Wyatt is an Australian shepherd mix, 1yr 8months old. He loves people and other dogs. He can be a little nervous at first, but we're looking forward to learning more about him and watching him learn how to be the best dog he can be!

Hey everyone. I am excited to tell you that Wyatt passed his Level 2 obedience test with flying colors this week!! He did SO good when we were testing. I was so proud of him. Then he got his favorite treats in too. He loves Beggin’ Strips! When he knows I have them in my pocket, he will start performing, doing tricks and commands w/o me asking, hoping to get a Beggin’ Strip! He loves those things! Besides that, it was a pretty normal week for us/him. We are going outside now to play with Delaney & Shadow. So we’ll hit you back next week.

Hi everyone. This week was a challenging week for me. I called home and found out that my uncle, who was like a father figure to me growing up, had passed away. Of course I was saddened and a bit emotional. Wyatt had sensed it right away and came right up to me and curled right into me when I came back into the cell. He looked right up into my eyes with his ears laid back and started to kiss my hands and then my face when I leaned over. He then jumped up and put his paws on my shoulders and laid his head on my shoulder. I just gave him pets and love like he was giving me. He was telling me that everything was going to be okay. Then he grabbed his ball and went to the door. So we went outside and played fetch. He did his very best to bring me comfort and joy in my time of sadness. I was so thankful to have him in my time of sorrow and need. He truly is a very special boy!

Hey y’all. Wyatt had a great week. He spent most of his week playing. Don’t worry, we threw in a little training too! Since he got a few mice out in our yard, he now thinks he is a cat. Every time we go out there he has to do a perimeter sweep to check for more. He becomes consumed by it until I call him off or tell him to leave it. The mice and the lantern flies. He will show me where one is every time it lands on the ground. If it flies off before I can kill it, he will follow it to see if it lands again and then look to me. He caught one in the air and spit it right out, LOL. He didn’t like that, thank goodness. He’s loving his new found freedom of cruising around our area in the dayroom off leash. Now he wants to go out there, and we do. He’s SUCH a good boy and he deserves his fur-ever home. Hopefully he will find it soon.

Hey everyone. I was going to write and tell you about Wyatt’s spa day, but he did something this morning that I need to tell you about. We went out for his morning potty call and my boy joined the ranks of Russo, Kane, & Penny. Wyatt caught 2 bodies! He had gone and did his business and I had cleaned it up. I took the bag and put it in the can. I closed the lid and the next thing I knew here came Wyatt. He put his nose to the bottom of the can, sniffed, pushed the can out of the way and dove in and chomped. Baby mice were running everywhere. He ran off holding 2 of them in his mouth and I escorted 4 more through the fence. He took off running with these mice in his mouth. He chomped and tried to hide them from me. Thank God he knows “drop it” because I told him to drop it and he spit them out. May they rest in peace. He was so proud of himself. What a way to spend his 8 month anniversary of being here, huh?

Hey everyone. I need to tell you something funny Wyatt started doing this week. I’ve already told you how he likes to go down and rob Peep’s house of her toys when she isn’t in there. Wyatt and I have put in a lot of work building his confidence in our Dayroom. Well, he put it to use this week. I will open my door and remove the gate and tell him to come out and say “hi.” He’s taken that and run with it. Now instead of going to Peep’s house, he goes to Cassie’s old house and robs her. He will go in and take a ball and go back to our house. He may keep it for a day or so, but as soon as he gets the chance, he takes it back and puts it in her toy bin and will take something else. The one day he had 5 new toys in our house, all in a pile. The funny thing is, he took them all back on his own! He’s very smart when left to his own devices, LOL.

Hey everyone. Wyatt here. I told my dad that I wanted to holler at you all this week. Did you see my girl Peeps on TV this week? Ms. Lynzee even gave me a shout out. It's true! Me and Peeps are besties. I'm getting ready to go out and play with her now. Hopefully she gets her fur-ever home soon because she is wearing me out! LOL. Speaking of which, I've been working my tail off and I would like my fur-ever home too. My dad is going to have to take some time off because he is having surgery soon, and he won't be able to take care of me and I want my next person to be my forever person. I don't want to be passed around like poor Devin. That being said, would someone out there give me a chance to love you and for you to love me? I've been here for quite a while and I don't need to be. Once you get to know me and me you, you’ll be very happy. I promise.

Hey everyone. I was SO PROUD of my boy this week. Wyatt was out running around in our dayroom, playing, taking treats from people, doing tricks, all off leash every day this week. He was wanting to go out there, so we did every time. Wyatt is usually very nervous out there and doesn't want to be out there, but he put on his big boy britches and he did it, especially if his bestie Peeps was out there. He loves her! They play non-stop for hours out in our dog yard. He will have his ball and she will try to steal it right out of his mouth. Sometimes she succeeds, and then he will chase her and steal it back, LOL. Sometimes he just drops it for her to get it, and she will take off and he can chase her to get it back. They are so cute out there together. He is a ladies' man. He greatly prefers female dogs over males. He can be around other male dogs on leash, but he is only off leash with our girls. He loves his ladies!

Hey everyone! Wyatt made a new friend this week. Her name is Peeps. He absolutely LOVES her and looks for her every time we go to the yard. She wears him out though, LOL. It's so funny because she will get the zoomies and she will run right into him trying to knock him over. She bounces right off of him. She's like a flea on a gnat's ass when it comes to size. She tries to steal his ball right out of his mouth, and he lets her know that isn't going to happen, but then he drops it and lets her have it! She annoys him when he lays down, then he will return the favor as soon as she lays down. Poor Devin gets mad at him for taking all the girls, but Wyatt doesn't care. He's the real playa!

Hey everyone! I was SO proud of my boy this week. Me & Wyatt have been working on his confidence while in our dayroom. He is really nervous out there on leash, so I decided to do something different and do his training off leash. The last 2 days have been AMAZING! Little by little he kept coming out further and further. Today I was able to get him the whole way out into the middle of the dayroom. He was playing with toys, taking treats, saying Hi to people and even playing with Delaney & Cassie. The funniest thing was him going down and robbing another handler's cell. He kept going from my cell to his, going in and coming back out with a different toy each time. He would take it back to our hut, drop it off, and go back to steal another. He did this a bunch of times. Now I have a lot of toys to return, LOL. It is worth it though to see him be so happy and confident. I had the biggest smile on my face. Now he wants to go out there, which is such an improvement for him. He just doesn't like to be on leash. PTSD.

Hey everyone! Let me talk to ya. My boy has had a great week! I was SO proud of him this week. As you all are aware, Wyatt does not like going out into our dayroom where there's a lot of commotion going on. There’s lots of people moving around and lots of loud noises. He’s very nervous when he’s on a leash out there, so I decided to try something different. I opened my door and removed the safety gate. I went out where he could see me and started to call him. At first, he just came to the door and looked out. Then I started to toss him some treats right outside the door. Slowly he came out to get them. Then I started to toss them farther away. Then he started chasing them. We kept playing this game, and then I had him going all over the place with me off leash. He was doing tricks out there for not just me, but other inmates too. He was even running up to people to get treats. He even went into another inmate’s cell to say hi. We've been playing this game for a couple of days now when there’s not too many people out there, and he seems to enjoy it. So we're going to try to keep doing it and building his confidence. He even found Delaney's and Cassie's cell. He sniffed them out pretty quickly. I'll let you know how it goes!

Hey everyone, Wyatt here. Let me tell you, I've put in a lot of work this week. It's been exhausting. Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of play too. I even learned a new trick this week. It's called "Target." My dad will tell me "Target," and all I have to do is go and touch what he is pointing at with my paw and he will give me a treat. I mean, that's so easy, and this week he had “Beggin Strips," which I declare are my absolute FAVORITE. I still don't like our dayroom. Too many weirdos. I love to be outside and playing with my friends. I don't mind following them around, just not inside in the dayroom. Me and Delaney are working every morning with Henry. Sometimes he is being a good boy and gets really close to us, and I will bark at him just for fun, LOL. He barks back every time. Then I run off and go play with Delaney. Well, it's time for me to go outside for my morning training exercises and my play time. Delaney is waiting on me and you all know it's not nice to keep a lady waiting. Ciao! See you next week.

Hey everyone. Wyatt has had a pretty good week. We spent a lot of time out in the yard where he is most comfortable. He spent most of his time playing fetch, which he loves. He also got a new Frisbee, which he kept trying to share with Delaney. He also played with Cassie some on leash. You all know it's been hot. When it’s like that, Delaney will play a little, then she likes to chill. Wyatt will annoy the crap out of her until she plays with him some more, LOL. At certain times of the day, there are very limited shade spots out there. If Delaney is laying in one by the picnic table, he will try to get her to play until she gives in and chases him. He will run in a big circle and then go and steal her shade spot. Then she will chase him off of it and the whole game starts all over again. He makes me laugh SO much at some of the stuff he does. He is no dummy, that's for sure!

Hey y'all! Wyatt has had a very good week. He continues to grow and come out of his shell each and every day. He even learned some new tricks this week. He learned to "roll over" and "give me belly," (he absolutely LOVES belly rubs), and “load up.” I’ve never seen him get up on top of our picnic tables out in the dog yard. He learned "load up," and now he will get up there every time you ask. Now it's getting hot out, so that means he is shedding. We use the “load up” so that he hops up there and it makes it easier for me to brush him every morning. He loves that too! I'm trying to groom him, and he wants to keep giving me kisses. Now he is trying to get frisky, but we stop that REAL quick. LOL. He even came out in the dayroom to meet some visitors that came to the block. He continues to play with Delaney all the time, and we are even using him to help Henry out. He's been doing so good. He would make a great big brother to someone. I'll keep everyone updated and we'll see you all next week!

El Jeffe Grande, may be looking for a buddy. Well, let me tell you all a little secret. What you all don't know is that Big Boss's dad here and mine are one and the same. That means not only can me and Big Boss be buddies, but we can be brothers if his new family would give me my fur-ever home. How COOL would that be? That would be awesome, in my opinion. I'm looking for a quieter place than it is here. I'm also really looking for a doggy friend. I love playing with Delaney, even when she doesn't want to. I even share my toys and wait at the water bowl until it's my turn. Boss, talk to your family and help a brother out. Let's become family!”

Wyatt is getting better going through the dayroom. We had some setbacks with people yelling or whistling when we are working out there. We’ll keep working on it. It’s one step forward, two steps back some days and two forward, one back on others. Some people here are not respectful of the training we are doing or his needs, but I will get him through it or allow him to go back to the cell to decompress.

Wyatt would do his best in an environment where he is not forced to be around or in large crowds, or around people who are yelling just to be loud. He does best when he is in the yard off leash and playing with another dog. You already know all of this. I’m doing what you told his former handler to do and we do short exposures in the dayroom a lot during the day. In and out of the cell, back and forth. He doesn’t duck, tuck, and run to the cell – he will now just walk!

Hey everyone. This is my first week with Wyatt and he is doing so good. We’ve been working on his confidence in our dayroom and going through doors. We cruise the dayroom when there is not a lot of people out and he is enjoying it. He loves going to our counselor’s office and our unit manager’s office to get treats. Where he shines is outside in the yard off leash. He is a completely different dog out there. He loves to play fetch with his ball. He also loves to play with his bestie, Delaney. He really enjoys playing with other dogs. Him and Delaney enjoy rumbling with each other. We’ve also been playing a lot in the cell. He really enjoys all of the attention, but he’s fine if I have to go somewhere. He is so happy when I come back and showers me with kisses. He really enjoys being brushed and getting belly rubs. He seeks out attention and I give him ALL he wants.

This week has been ok for Wyatt. He gets along with other dogs and he loves to play with them. Wyatt still gets fearful around a crowd of people. It is like his anxiety goes to another level, so I try to be mindful of that. Other than that, Wyatt can be a good dog in a peaceful setting. He loves being outside and off leash so he can run around. Wyatt needs a family with a fenced-in yard and who don’t have a lot going on. Once in a home setting, he would calm down and be able to be who God made him to be – a loving dog with a LOT of love to give.

Wyatt has been in the HOPE program since 12/12/25. Wyatt is a good dog who is looking for a great home with a family that he can call his own. Wyatt is shy at first, but he does open up to the ones he is with. Once he does, they will have one that will bring joy and happiness to their home. He loves to play fetch and loves being outside, running around the yard and playing with other dogs. Small dogs that he can play with will become his best friend. All he wants to do is play and be loved.

This week has been good for Wyatt. Wednesday he went on Fox News and did a great job on TV. We all thought he was going to freak out, but to our surprise, he did great and looked good on TV. Wyatt is a great dog who loves to play once he opens up to you. A family with a small dog would be a good fit for him – the smaller dog could be his playmate and comforter, the one who could show him around. Other than that the one who would give Wyatt his forever home will have a great friend to enjoy.

Wyatt is a great dog. Once he gets passed his fears of being around a crowd of people his friendly side will show. Wyatt loves to play, anything can turn into a game with him. Most of all playing with other dogs is his thing, especially with the female dogs. Watching him play is like being in his own world where he has no worries just being himself. Once Wyatt gets to know you, you will have a friend like no other. The one who wants to be with you and the one who wants to be loved by you. W have some work to do with fears, but other than that he is a wonderful dog!

Wyatt just wants to be outside and play with other dogs. Wyatt loves playing with Delaney. When they are together playing, it is just like watching WWE. Delaney is a pocket pit, so she is small, and Wyatt is like the Big Show compared to her. They both be going at it. Wyatt will knock her down and then fall down when she gets back at him so she can beat up on him. Then he will flip her over and do the same to her. Wyatt is so gentle with her, knowing that he is much bigger than her. It is so good to see the two of them enjoying life with no worries.

Wyatt is a funny dog. Just watching him and Delaney out at yard playing, they both be tearing it up! Wyatt will jump on Delaney to make her chase, he will dip in and out around her... as soon as she gets close enough to catch him he will jump over and she will get so mad when she can’t get him. Even though Wyatt is bigger than Delaney he is so gentle with her, they be rolling all over the ground. Wyatt will let her jump on him and then he will jump on her. Wyatt will put her whole head in his mouth, push her on the ground and run. Delaney will chase him to get her hit back. They both are like little kids playing at recess.

Wyatt has been doing good this week. He is being very playful and wanted to play with every dog here in the HOPE program. Devin, Delaney, and Wyatt played together off leash in the yard. It was funny to see them playing together, even though they are smaller than Wyatt. He is so gentle with them. When they team up on him, he will run, juke, and jump over them to get away from them until they decide to cut him off just to get him down. It is so funny just watching them play. It’s like they have no care in the world, but to just enjoy life.

Wyatt is home searching. He needs a great family who is laid back and likes to chill out in the yard where he can run around and just be him. Loud noise and a large crowd of people would set off his anxiety. Normally I would walk him away and remind him that he is ok, and then he will calm down. For the most part, Wyatt is a great dog. He gets along with other dogs in his comfort zone. Wyatt is playful. He loves to play fetch and chewing on his bone. Wyatt has a really funny way of asking for something. He will nudge your hand, or he will sit in front of you and try to give you paw.

Wyatt has been doing good this week, even though he has been having his days. Wyatt does get skittish around a large crowd of people. He is still a great dog; he just doesn’t like being around a large crowd. His circle is small, only the people that he knows. Slowly, I’ll be adding more people to get him comfortable. Once he is relaxed, Wyatt will take treats from them, let them pet him, and he will play with them. Wyatt likes to interact with other dogs, and he loves to play with you, even though he is chill and laid back. He is very lovable. The more you are with him, the more you will fall for him, especially with his two different color eyes.

Wyatt is a good dog once he gets comfortable with his person he is very playful he like to play with you when you guys are together. Wyatt will swipe his paw at you run back and forth grabbing his toys teasing you into playing fetch with him. He will play with other dogs but most of all he loves to run. Wyatt need a fence in yard so he can be out more to express who he is. The funny thing that he will do is when it is time for him to go out-side he will run to the door but when I grab the leash he will run and hide but when I find him he will then throw his paw at me until I hook him up and then he is ready to go out.

yatt is a great dog once he opens up to you. You would realize that he is what you have been looking for in a family member. Wyatt love to be outside running around in the yard playing fetch and eating snow, Wyatt like to plays with other dogs and people once he feel like he can trust them. Wyatt have been through a lot so his circle is small once you enter his circle. You are in for life. Earning his trust is important to him he wants to be loved and give love back but first he got to trust that you will love him and protect him so he can be who he was suppose to be Wyatt a loving Dog.

Wyatt is a great dog he's been working on getting better every day. He loves to play catch and he is a very lovable dog once he gets to know you. He can be shy but once he opens up to someone he will be your best friend.

Wyatt is a great dog but can be sensitive to busy environments; if too much is going on, he tends to shut down and try to get away. He would do best in a quiet home with a big yard to run in. He plays well with other dogs and follows commands as long as he feels comfortable and secure. He is an active dog who needs things to do in a comfortable environment.

Wyatt is a "cool looking," chill, and mild-mannered dog. He can be a little nervous around large crowds and needs to be introduced to small groups at a time to get comfortable. Once he opens up, he is a "ball of fun" and loves playing chase. He is looking for a family with a big fenced-in yard where he can run. He will alert you when someone is there, but settles down quickly with a wagging tail once told it is okay.

Wyatt is a good boy. He just has trust issues. Once he gets to know you, then you will have a best friend for life. Around a small setting of people and little to no noise, Wyatt will be relaxed. I’ve been working on him to be better, or the best of himself that he can be. Wyatt loves to play with other dogs and loves being outside, like a dog park with other dogs or just playing with you. Wyatt will do good in a home with a family in a quiet setting who is looking for that companionship with a best friend and who wants to give him the best life he ever had.

Working really hard to overcome his fears, Wyatt has been going up to people saying hi and relaxing more around them. He also comes out at night to play with the two girls and checking out the place off-leash. He still has some improving to do but he's getting there. Slowly Wyatt has been opening up to me and I can tell he really trusts me because we could have never gotten this far with him overcoming some of his fears. Until then we will keep working on anything that stands in his way.

Wyatt is doing much better in here with all of the people and the movement that is going on. Wyatt still gets nervous around a crowd, so I’ll bring him around until he is comfortable and then let him walk up to say hi. It is a lot of work, but I want him to understand that it's okay to be loved. The CO's allowed us to let some of the dogs run around after count; at first, Wyatt was unsure what to do until he saw the other dogs playing. Now his confidence is building and he goes up to people to say hi. I'm proud of you, keep up the good work Wyatt.

Wyatt came to the HOPE program last Friday. Being in a new place had kind of freaked him out; he was nervous with all of the new faces and unfamiliar sounds. With a lot of work and being exposed to his new environment, Wyatt is now happy about going out for walks on the tier. He will approach some of the people here, slowly building up his confidence and coming out of his shell to be a great dog.

Shadow is a playful, smart, energetic dog, at 6 years young! He’s eager to make you happy and is quickly building on to his basic obedience knowledge! He is friendly with everyone he has met so far and shows interest in other dogs, especially if they're calm.

Shadow has been making strides in his training and his interaction with Delaney. They get along so well together. She doesn’t have to check him for trying to hump her barely at all. I have also started to cover him with another blanket at sleep time to prevent him from flipping his mat over and getting under it, LOL.

Shadow is getting used to his routine. He has had no behavioral issues and is getting acclimated to being in kennel 2 to 3 hrs a day with no issues. He does not bark at all inside although he does get attention from other dogs and people outside in dog yard occasionally.

Shadow is progressing beautifully. He listens SO well and getting better at responding to prompts for tricks. Shadow has been showing that he is capable of playing with other dogs as long as it’s done without toys present. He has been playing with Delaney in controlled sports and I’m optimistic that soon there will be full on playtime with at least her.

Shadow is extremely well mannered. He loves people, new and previously introduced. He LOVES getting treats and will sit and give paws to anyone willing. He listens extremely well, comes when called, likes to fetch sometimes, loves being outside, and doesn't always give up the toy. Thinks it's a game of chase. He also loves to play tug!

Shadow has no idea what the New Year is, but I told him that his resolution is to not freak out when he sees the cat in the house. So far, he's not sticking to it. I told him that cat will murder him in his sleep, and I reminded him that he's a heavy sleeper and will never hear her coming. He still doesn't care.

He's still doing well with Mikey and Mouse. Mouse is fast and Shadow trying to keep up with her is cartoon-ish. He paws at her and tries to pull her closer, but she just ducks and dives away from him. Then Mikey comes running by and they're off together!

Christmas in a foster home consisted of a special breakfast of rice cooked in beef bone broth, ground beef, scrambled eggs, and TOYS! The amount of fluff that was cleaned up filled two huge garbage bags! Shadow and the other dogs were all exhausted and had full bellies!

We're hoping that we will find a forever home, or even a cat-free foster home for Shadow so that he doesn't have to return to the prison. We know he loved his time there, but he, like every dog, deserves to have a home, a couch, and soft, cozy blanket. Please consider fostering or adopting Shadow if you have a cat-free home!

Shadow has settled into his foster home really well so far! He's excited that Mikey is here and that Mikey likes to play with him. He doesn't understand why most of the other dogs aren't his friends (its because he likes to hump), but he has Mikey and dog named Mouse to play with and that's good enough for him!

We have learned that there is one thing Shadow doesn't like, or rather one thing that Shadow shouldn't live with, and that's cats! He makes quite the ruckus when he sees one and tries to run through the dog gates like the Kool-Aid man! Even though he's food motivated, we haven't found one that can distract him from cat activity, so when Shadow is out for playtime, the cats go away.

Sometimes dogs are adopted and they find their forever home; sometimes, they’re adopted for a short while and it doesn’t work out. And sometimes the fact that it didn’t work out was a blessing in disguise. Unfortunately, Shadow was returned to his rescue and we’re working on getting him back into the HOPE Program. However, that’s been put on hold for a few weeks because when Shadow was returned, he hadn’t been given his allergy meds as instructed and he came back a literal hot mess! Double ear infection, skin infection, hot spots, paws red, swollen and raw in some spots.

Turns out, Shadow didn’t spend much time in that adoptive home at all either, most of his time away from HOPE was spent at a boarding kennel with his rescue. Sure the adopter went to see him and spend time with him, but being bounced back and forth does not help a dog adjust to a new life. It does not help them thrive. On top of his medical issues, happygolucky Shadow returned as a dog who was more reactive to other dogs too.

Luckily, Shadow is being fostered with the HOPE Trainer so that they can work through both his medical and behavioral issues. Its been about 3 weeks there and we’re happy to report the reactivity is improving and he’s even enjoying playing with some of the dogs there. We’re currently working on his friendship with Mikey, another former HOPE dog! Poor Mikey though is learning that sometimes new friends like to hump him, and he just stands there and takes it. LOL

Well everybody, I got some good news. Shadow went out on a meet and greet last Saturday, and everything went good. Shadow met with the family and their dog. First, he introduced himself with warm hugs and kisses. He took treats from them, played with the kids, and gave a lot of loving to them. After that he met the family dog, and from there they were like best friends. Now Shadow is going to be a part of their family! I’m a little sad, but at the same time I’m happy because I know all of the hard work has paid off. To all of you who have been reading our journals, just know Shadow has finally found his family, his home. I’m proud of you Shadow. – Your handler

Shadow is doing good and living healthy. He is one of the better dogs here who loves people and other dogs. Shadow is laid back – he is always on CHILL MODE. Shadow loves going on walks and being around you. He can get along with other dogs, but I would like for him to be the only dog so he can get all of the attention that he wants. Shadow is a big cuddle bug. He will move your arm so he can lay next to you. Shadow has his level 3 basic training. He knows his commands and whatever else you tell him and all he wants is a good home!

Shadow has been doing good. Him and Penny ran the fence together yesterday and they did good. They both ran until they both were tired out of their minds. Shadow is doing great with people and his commands. We keep going over his commands to keep him sharp at them. Other than that, Shadow is still looking for a good home with a good family he can call his own.

Hello everybody. Shadow is one of the favorite dogs here. He LOVES the staff and the inmates – he is no stranger to new people. His personality is laid-back, but loving and caring is his thing. Shadow loves being around people—it doesn’t matter who you are, Shadow thinks you and him have been friends forever. Shadow likes to go for walks and be cuddled like a baby. Tug is his favorite game to play, or chew on a toy that he can rip up. Fetch is more like ‘you throw it, now chase me to get it back.’ He will keep you on your toes, but I love him just as much as he loves me!

Shadow has been okay for the most part, besides out at yard – he has been acting like he is sad. I think one of his best friends had left the program, Ellie Mae. Ellie Mae and Shadow were playmates. It didn’t matter who was out at yard, Ellie and Shadow would play like no one was out there. Now she is gone and his only friend left is Booker. They would run the fence like there is no tomorrow, they would only stop to take a break. It is not like Ellie Mae, where they could play off leash and drive each other crazy. I feel bad for Shadow. He needs a doggie friend, the one who could fill that empty space from missing Ellie Mae.

He will lean into them, give them his backside to scratch, and then he will turn around to give them a kiss. Shadow loves to show off his affection toward people. He is a very loving dog who is just looking for his forever home and a family that he can call his own. Watching his doggie friends get adopted from the HOPE Program is giving Shadow hope that one day he will find his home. LOVE Shadow.

Shadow has been doing good this week. He has been playing with Ellie Mae nonstop – they play like kids at a birthday party! Shadow has high energy when it comes to playing, but when it is time to chill, he will just lay all over you. The funny thing about that one day out at yard, Shadow and Ellie Mae were out there playing. Ellie Mae came over and started laying on me. Shadow was like, ‘Hold up, that's my person!’ So he came over and pushed Ellie Mae out of the way, then he flopped all over me with his tongue out looking at Ellie Mae. I can tell that Shadow was jealous of her on me. That was SO funny for him to do that.

Shadow is such a people pleaser. He will go up to strangers and act like he knew them all of his life, showing off his commands and giving them love. He has no fear – he just wants to give love and receive love. All of the other handlers just love him and he loves them too. The other day we had all of the dogs out at yard. Shadow was so excited to play with them all. Him and Ellie Mae were doing good until he spotted Booker. Shadow broke off from Ellie Mae and started running the fence with Booker and all of the other dogs didn’t matter after that. Him and Booker ran until they both were too tired to do anything else. Other than that, all of the dogs had a good time together.

Shadow has been doing great. His energy is like a 2-year-old child. Shadow loves to play. His favorite thing to do is to make you chase him when you play with him. I can’t keep up with him, so I’ll wait until other dogs are out and then I will let him go to work. Shadow and Ellie Mae will go all day if we let them. Shadow likes it when I chase him, and I know I can’t keep up, but Ellie Mae – she will run him into the ground. They look like two kids at the playground taking turns pushing each other on the swings. It brings me joy to see Shadow having the most fun of his life playing with Ellie Mae.

Shadow is a great dog. He is very loving. Shadow LOVES the attention we all give him here – just about everyone here gives him love. Shadow likes it when you’re petting him and you hit that spot, which is the inside of his rear legs. When you get that spot, Shadow’s back half of his body will drop and he will hit the floor, LOL. Shadow is very funny. The other day I was feeding him in his slow feeder. I had to walk out for a minute and when I got back Shadow had taken his feeder bowl inside of his crate and he was laying beside it asleep. I thought it was funny to see his bowl inside of his crate right beside him while he was asleep. Shadow is something else! He will keep you on your toes, LOL, but most of all Shadow is a great dog. He will bring a LOT of laughter into your life! He’s been doing great with others and he’s VERY loving.

Good morning everyone! Shadow has been doing good playing with the other dogs and having a lot of loving from the staff and others here. Shadow is such a great dog, he loves all the attention that he gets on a daily basis! We spoil him on a daily basis, like all dogs should be!

Shadow loves to play fetch…well, technically its more like you throw it, he goes and gets it and then plays keep away so you have to chase him. He’ll stay just out of reach of you so that you have to chase him. And he’ll just stand there watching you, waiting for you to make a move before running off again. He’s got a huge smile on his face the whole time!

This week has been good for Shadow, actually every week is a great week for Shadow. He played like he’s never played before, this time with Ellie Mae. They were both gassed out but that didn’t stop them! They kept playing for another 30 minutes. We commented about how they would both sleep good tonight and when we got inside Shadow went straight into his crate panting and then immediately started falling asleep.

This week has been a playful week for Shadow! Prime example, this morning when I took him out to use the bathroom, as soon as I get him in the back yard, I take him off leash so he can go to his favorite spot. Shadow then takes off running, grabbing toys and running around with them in his mouth, instead of going potty. He always wants to play!

So I tried to hook him back up so I can walk him around for him to do his business. Every time I go to get him, Shadow takes off running in the opposite direction! Another Handler was outside and was just cracking up saying, “Shadow is making you work this morning!” So he came over to help me and it took both of us to catch Shadow!

Shadow has had a good week this week! His personality is really starting to come out! We did some training to keep him fresh after getting his level three basic obedience certificate. Shadow is so amazing at what he does and decided he’d rather be funny during training, than focused. I was going through some of his training steps, working on “lay down” and every time I said it, Shadow would lay down, then immediately roll over on his back! He’d be looking at me, wagging his tail, waiting on a belly rub so I had to give in. And then he kept doing it! Shadow thought it was funny and he clearly wanted to play, but I wanted to train! I do have to admit it was funny, but I couldn’t let him know that!

This week was a good week for shadow, he got the chance to play with Ellie Mae off leash! They ran the whole yard and Shadow chased Ellie one way, and Ellie chased him back the other way. They both seemed exhausted afterwards. Now every time he sees Ellie he just wants to play and play and play!

Shadow has made a new friend and his name is Sherman! Sherman came into the HOPE program last Friday and from the moment Shadow saw Sherman, he just knew that Sherman was going to be his friend! Almost immediately they both played together on leash and they did great. Well, there is another one of Shadow‘s friends and during yard time they will run the fence, smiling and kissing each other! When Booker is out in the yard and Shadow is in the other Shadow will bark until Booker comes over to run with him. If Booker doesn’t come over right away, Shadow will cry until he does then both of them are as happy as ever running back-and-forth.

Shadow is such a great dog, he loves to be around other dogs and people too. Shadow wants to play with just about every dog he sees it doesn’t matter what kind of dog it is, to him every dog is a friend. Shadow just wants to play and make friends all day every day. People here just love his energy and they are amazed at how friendly he is

Shadow is looking for that place in someone that he can call his person in a house that he can call his home we were all really surprised to learn that he didn’t receive a single application from his debut at denim diamonds and dogs last month.

Shadow is such a chill and laid-back dog he gets along with everyone and every dog. Whoever ends up adopting him is getting the best boy ever! And I don’t think Shadow will ever be a problem for his future family, even with the free training that HOPE provides!

Shadow loves playing tug, going for walks, getting attention and just being around people and dogs. The one thing that I think is funny and that you must know about Shadow is that he LOVES laying on top of his crate! He loves it so much that I made a bed for him up there. He just likes to get up there and chill out. He can also see what’s going on outside of the cell from that vantage point too.

Shadow is one of the most happy dogs I have ever met! He just wants to go say hi to every single person (and dog) here. Shadow just loves sharing his love and he just seems to always put a smile on every face he sees. He's so loving and playful and I think its something really special to have a dog that has so much love to give that it NEVER runs out.

Shadow is a great dog with good humor, very playful and laid back when it is time to chill out. Shadow has made a lot of friends here – the staff that have seen him think he is a very sweet dog. When they approach him he will sit until I tell him to go say Hi, then he will go up to them, show love to them, and if they got treats he will kiss them. When they are done I will give him praise and say GOOD BOY. Shadow will do great with a family with yard space so he can run. Whoever gets Shadow will say to themselves, “This was a great pick!” He is very friendly. All he is looking for is love. Shadow is doing good around other dogs and still working on his level 3 training.

For the past 2 weeks Shadow has been training for his level 3 training test, which is more intense than a level 1 or 2. It is when your dog can follow his or her commands with distraction, off leash, and still can perform with no problem. I believe Shadow can do it. Other than that Shadow has been a great dog doing good with other dogs and loving the people here. They love giving him loving and treats – something he loves the most.

Hello everybody! Shadow is doing good. He is a special boy. Shadow brings joy to the guys in here – they love him just like he loves them. Shadow is very friendly, he will kiss everyone who shows him love. Shadow plays with other dogs and he don’t engage with hot headed dogs. Shadow will walk away from them. Other than that Shadow is very smart! When I be talking to him he will tilt his head like he’s understanding what I am saying. When Shadow finds his forever home I know he will do good and spread his love throughout their home. He’s still improving on his commands.

Hello everybody! Ever since Shadow has been here in the program he has been doing good. Shadow LOVES people – everyone he met he just has to give them a kiss. Shadow loves the attention, most of all Shadow is very dog friendly and he loves the female dogs, LOL. Shadow touched me the other day. I was watching a show called “Long Lost Family.” There was an episode that was very touching. Shadow was laying on my bed. The episode had hit me, I felt the joy of this woman being reunited with her son who was put up for adoption. A tear had rolled down my face. Shadow thought I was crying, he put his head on my lap then looked at me like he was saying “are you ok?”

Good morning everybody. On March 8, 2025 I received Shadow. Shadow is a pit with a lot of energy and a BIG heart which is full of LOVE. Since Shadow came into the Program he’s been full of joy, greeting everybody with open arms, spreading his love everywhere. He’s not shy and he is eager to learn. I know he’s a gray pit but sometimes I think he might be a gray mountain goat because he loves to be on top of his crate, just laying there waiting on me to come back LOL. He also learned his commands in rapid time!

Shadow joined the HOPE Program today! So far he seems like a chill older guy who just wants to be loved and aims to please! He has the confidence of a guy who has overcome a lot in his life so far, and our goal with him is continue his journey from a dog with severe skin issues to a well-mannered gentleman who just wants a family of his own. Stay tuned!
