CoCo - CPAA

CoCo

CoCo is an 8 year old Australian Shepherd, but don't let the age fool you, he's still smart as a whip, energetic as ever, but also appreciates a cozy place to take a nap!  CoCo ended up with CPAA after some very kind people found him in not such great circumstances and offered to take him into their home.  While there they nursed him back to health, watched his beautiful coat become long and shiny again, and got him a clean bill of health!  We did learn that CoCo would do best in a home without cats, and that he can be selective with his dog friends too.  We're working on teaching him how to be less reactive to dogs, but he may do better in a home where he can be the only pet.  Thankfully though, we know he does well with kids, men and women, so no limitations there. We love helping dogs like CoCo really thrive and learn how to be the best dog he can be!

Coco is available through the Central PA Animal Alliance and his adoption fee is $400.  He comes fully vetted, neutered and of course FREE lifetime training assistance.

My boy is really thriving at his age, I was tasked with putting a gentle leader on CoCo. It was funny because he did not like me putting that on him! The faces he was making – priceless. But I had a whole week to work with him on it before his next home visit. I was thrilled to hear that CoCo did exceptionally well walking with his person. Overall, I couldn’t be more proud of him. The way he responds to people is NEXT LEVEL – he loves affection, especially hugs! He loves to be groomed – the boy is spoiled, no doubt. He did get sick a couple days ago. He eats broccoli, but too much of it wasn’t good! I felt sorry for my boy, his look was “help me please!” He’s all good now. Pray for his forever home!

CoCo’s week was beautiful. He had a home visit, which went extremely well. Although he is a much older dog, I couldn’t be more proud of him in such a short time. CoCo is still growing and learning as the days go by. I just can’t wait until his permanent home to be just that, home. Keep your prayers in the air for CoCo and a forever home.

Every week CoCo is thriving on all levels, even his reactions toward other dogs. CoCo just gets overly excited when he meets newer dogs, but once he’s around them and knows they’re not a threat to him, he’s good. I’m really surprised that he doesn’t react to Wyatt, which was a deal for him to get over. CoCo loves people and he loves his attention. He loves hugs from people. Then there’s Devin, whom he loves to play with all the time. CoCo loves to be outside whether it’s play or just chilling and just loves the company of people. Staff here LOVES him!

CoCo’s growth is something amazing to be a part of. Watching how he just plays with Devin, then in a blink of an eye he switches to his grown man when Delaney comes around. Now he is not reacting to Wyatt, but when Wyatt starts to play around it’s almost like CoCo gets jealous and wants to join in with Wyatt. CoCo is becoming the people’s champ. The smile and the energy he brings to people is priceless. CoCo is thriving in every good way, though I have to wrestle with him when it’s time for a bath – he thinks it’s a game, which is funny!

I didn’t know CoCo had the awareness of protection. One of the youngins was playing with me and he grabbed me – CoCo saw that, ran from the other end of the yard and jumped straight on me getting between me and the youngin, standing there barking until the youngin moved away from me. CoCo loves to play chase, whether it’s with Devin or one of the guys. I just didn’t know that he was quick and very agile, very deceptive. He is fun to be around, that’s for sure!

OFF LEASH CoCo played and ran around with Devin and Delaney. CoCo thinks Devin is asleep – watching them is hilarious! It’s like looking at an episode of Yellow Stone, it’s crazy to see. Devin tries to get away but he can’t shake CoCo. He realizes that he’s quicker than he thought, so Devin will stop to wrestle a little then tries to hall ass LOL. When Delaney comes around CoCo turns into Fabio – he play bows and he’s just more gentle with her.

CoCo is ascending, he now plays with Delaney OFF leash, even Devin, although I think CoCo is too much for little Devin. Overall it was a good thing to see that CoCo can get along with other dogs. It takes a little time for CoCo to understand that the other dog is not a threat. His training is going well, he listens very well and he almost looks to you all the time for approval. He watches over me as I sleep, which I found interesting. I learned that’s the breed, that’s my old head.

CoCo is a beautiful dog. His personality and character could not be more spot on. It literally took him a day to trust me; now he looks to me and over me. CoCo trusts me enough to know that I won’t allow anything to happen to him. We now introduce ourselves to the other dogs. The way he reacts to them is unbelievable. Devin, Delaney, now Dexter he doesn’t respond to. He actually can be around them without reacting. What I did learn, CoCo loves hugs and loves being loved. CoCo LOVES EVERYBODY and is very chill and has manners.
