Penny - CPAA

Penny

Penny was pulled from a shelter in the Philadelphia area when they reached out and asked for CPAA and the HOPE Program to give her a chance.  During her time in the shelter, Penny was overwhelmed with all the commotion and would spend most of her days spinning in her kennel and drool due to fear, stress, and anxiety.  She was a volunteer favorite and knew that if she could just get out of the shelter, her life would change forever.

Penny went to live in a transitional foster home so that we could get to know her and help her decompress from the shelter stress.  She seemed to really blossom in the foster home and we knew that HOPE could really help Penny meet her full potential.  Penny can be slow to trust, but once she builds that bond with you, you'll always have her as a best friend!  We are still learning about what kind of dogs she enjoys being around, or if she would like to be an only pet, so please follow her journey below and be sure to share her page!

Penny is sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance, CPAA.  You can apply to adopt her here, https://www.centralpaanimalalliance.org/apply-to-adopt.

Penny is still entertaining herself with toys outside in the yard and playing with me. She’s doing better with everything and is more trusting with people all the way around. She’s still a little bit on edge with things but much better!

Penny had a great week with Romeo on the gate. She doesn't respond to him and acts like she wants to play. Penny plays every day and runs a lot. It's something that she enjoys and passes time doing. Penny loves to cuddle too and will make herself fit next to you!

Penny is doing well and makes herself known around the pod. Penny sits outside the cell and just watches everyone in the day room. She’s really calm while she does it! Penny is still playing with me and by herself…she makes sure that she's entertained. Penny has a new workout and she loves it and runs her laps happily!

10/24/2025

Penny is doing well and learning things about where she's at on her own, as well as me showing her that it's okay to relax! Penny has taken a liking to “Jolly Balls” that she can chase on her own. Penny is loving her new home and would like a new one in time!

10/17/2025

Penny is doing well and being herself. She runs the gate with the other dogs. She plays a lot with me in the dog yard. Tug is her FAV when it comes to passing time! She's been better with letting people get closer. She's a work in progress!

10/10/2025

Penny is doing well with her new setup. She’s been playing in the gate with other dogs. She misses Prime, which was her best friend – or son! Penny has a new Kong toy that she loves and plays with all the time. And it gets her very hype!

9/26/2025

Penny is doing great! She’s playing more and more without freaking out. Prime is her fav to play with and they run and run together! Penny got her head stuck in a ball and flipped herself over and it was so funny, LOL!

9/19/2025

Penny had a great week. She was very alert and wanted to play a LOT, and that was great because it let me know she was coming out of her shell more. She ran the gate with Prime and loves her time in the dog yard alone early in the mornings. Penny is a very good and smart dog. She’s awesome!!

9/12/2025

Penny is doing better with some of the other dogs. She plays on the gate with “old man” and they ran for a while. She plays on the gate with Prime almost every day. Penny is upbeat and just wants to find new things like birds and anything that moves!

Penny is learning well and picks up on things fast. She can sit pretty now and can give ten! Penny still needs a little work on meeting new people.

9/5/2025

Penny is having fun and living her BEST life. She plays tug as much as she can and runs the gate with Prime. And they did something this week that was GREAT – they touched noses and were like stuck there looking at each other. I think that’s her son!

8/22/2025

Penny is getting better with her new home. She still hasn’t played with some of the dogs here, but most! Penny’s newfound love is balls with a sound or a basketball to chew on and play with. Penny LOVES being outside running and playing.

8/15/2025

Penny is doing well for her first week in a new environment. I’ve found that Penny likes to play tug very much. She also loves balls that have a sound coming out of it. She has run the fence with Booker and Shadow. She has had a meeting with all of the dogs – some better than others. Penny is a great dog once she lets her guard down!

Penny joined the HOPE Program today!  She spent two weeks in a foster home helping her get ready for her move into the BIG HOUSE, and we're all very excited to see how we can help her learn to trust new people and be the playful dog that we saw while in her foster home.
