Prime - York SPCA
Prime
Prime, formerly known as Parmesan, showed up at the York SPCA back in March 2025 with mange. He was a puppy who grew up in the shelter environment and when he his adolescence around 1 year old, he was a big puppy with zero manners. His life up to that point was all about getting attention and getting noticed in anyway he could! Prime really needs structure and routine and someone to give him that chance to learn how to be the best dog possible. YSPCA reached out to HOPE and determined that he's the kind of dog we love to have in the Program.
Prime has a lot of potential and we're here to help build that! We are confident that we can help Prime be the best version of himself and find that perfect forever home.
Prime is sponsored by the York SPCA, YSPCA. You can apply to adopt him here, https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/YORK/Dog.

It’s amazing to me how dogs can pick up on things, whether it’s bad or good. I got news so I shared it with Prime, “You have a potential home.” Why does he get the zoomies, on leash mind you, like he literally understood what I said. I’m happy for him, he was never really given a chance. I’ve been talking to him every day since I got the news, telling him, “This is your chance. You have to be good. Be good for your family.” The look on his face is like he is really understanding what I’m saying. Prime thanks everyone in this journey!

I’m happy to report that Prime now understands the difference between living in a kennel and living in a home. Prime is willingly going into and using his crate. He cuddles with the big dog every now and then.
Where he sleeps is plush and he treats it as his own. All week this motha-lova been snoring and farting like he’s the only one in the room! I’m also happy to report no more bathroom accidents, and I’d like to thank the staff big time for their help. Prime for sure taught me some lessons, LOL.

Prime actually went on his first official outing and I have to honestly say Prime was impressive! There was a group of about 15-20 people and we, myself and Prime, sat in on it. I wasn’t sure what to expect to be truthful, given how energized Prime is, but Prime was actually the calmest in the room. The pure presence of Prime in the room gave it life. The people were engaged and thanked Prime for being there. I’m really proud of Prime’s growth. Though sometimes he can be a knucklehead, but that’s the puppy in him still!

Oh WOW let me tell you how Blockhead entertained this morning. Routine morning bathroom time…immediately after he’s done he has the ZOOMIES, running wild! I’m picking up his crap bag and tie it as I’m walking to the can, this motha-lova grabs the crap bag and continues to run wild! He’s shaking it, I’m chasing him…WILD scene! I’m just glad the bag didn’t break open. You know I rinsed his mouth out like a hundred times, then gave him a Greenie, LOL. Prime is for sure an entertainer… Prime Time for REAL.
Prime is still working on his attitude, learning how to turn it down some!

Prime Time is really progressing, though there are moments when you shake your head, “why did you just do that?” I have to admit it’s definitely a pleasure to be a part of his everyday growth. His willingness of learning puts that smile on your face. When he stares at you looking clueless, then tilts his head, it has you cracking up. For the first time, I witnessed Prime gassed after him playing with Charlie. I thought it was impossible, but this motha-lova was GASSED. Even Charlie was like, ‘I’m done.’ A joy to watch!

Prime is adjusting. He’s playing with the other dogs (on leash), which is a pretty sight. His play with Booker is CRAZY. Although Booker tries to put his weight on Prime, but Prime is a lot stronger than Booker. He loves Charlie. They just roll around like two little kids. It’s still work that needs to be done with him, but he’s listening – stubborn, of course. Prime loves people. The eyes and the puppy look will get you every time. Truly a beautiful knucklehead.
