Chase
Chase is an 8 year Beagle/Hound mix. He's closer to Hound size, weighing in at 80lbs (he could stand to lose a few pounds), but he definitely sounds like a beagle when he bays! He's a senior guy who LOVES meeting people, and seems to really enjoy the company of other dogs too. Chase cannot go to a home with cats, as he thinks they make better food than friends.
If you are interested in one of our animals, please fill out an adoption application. Please note that Chase is back with his original rescue in West Virginia. They can be reached by phone at 304-372-6064 or by email at jcas@jacksoncountyanimalshelterwv.com.

Hi everyone, I’m very sad to say that Chase is no longer here at the prison with me. He had a really good week with his training, but all of the constant commotion around here was just too much for him. Chase just needs a place where he can just lay back and enjoy his retirement. He loves to go on walks, as long as they aren’t too long. He was enjoying his friends Devin and Delaney and playing with them. He even climbed up on top of our picnic table in the dog yard twice. He was so proud of himself. I was so scared that he would jump off the top and hurt himself, so I hooked his leash back up and guided him back down using the seat. I will miss him, but this was not the best place for Pop Pop. I hope he finds his forever home and is happy.

Hi, I’m Chase. They call me Pop Pop here because I’m an old man I guess. I show my age too. Me an Arhur(itis) are best friends (LOL). He’s a painful friend to have. I fart a LOT too, haha. I think my food gives me lots of gas. Sometimes I will keep my dad up all night long doing that. Oh yeah, my stomach and intestines SCREAM sometimes all night long too, keeping him up. I think that may be the food too. I get grumpy when I’m in pain and will let people know not to bother me, except my dad. See, I told you – I am an old man!

Hey everyone, I only had Chase for three days before he got sick and had to go through his terrible ordeal that he had to endure. But in those three days, we were already bonding. Chase was really starting to open up to and trust me. He was already sitting for me and giving me his paw. I could get him to “touch” when cued, and also “look at me.” His recall was great. He was having a lot of fun playing with Devin, even if he was trying to exert his dominance on Devin. They became buddies real fast. I felt so bad for Chase because it was obvious from his physical condition when I got him that he was not used to getting much exercise. We just walked a lot, but I was cautious not to overdo it with him because I didn’t want him to be in any pain. He is an old dude, after all. This may not be the best place for him in his current state, but if he does come back, I will give him all the love he so richly deserves. I will continue to pray for a speedy recovery for him.
